Essential Oils: a Gift from Nature

essential oils a gift from nature

We understand that being grounded is preferable, so we frequently go to great lengths to ensure that what we put into our bodies is pure and unadulterated. For example, we read food labels and make an effort to avoid unnecessary additives. However, we often neglect what we put on our bodies.

Essential Oils: A Gift From Nature

When chemicals and drugs are applied to our skin or inhaled, they have the potential to disrupt the microflora on our skin and in our lungs, just as they have the potential to disrupt the delicate balance of beneficial bacteria in our digestive tract.
Essential oils are a natural gift that is all too often overlooked in today’s society.

Bacteria and our immune system

Living bacteria colonize the mucosal surfaces of the skin, lungs, and stomach, activating immunological responses either directly or through the synthesis of metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids, which protect against atopy. It should come as no surprise, then, that our ostensibly clean environment can prevent vital immune modulation. In fact, allergic sinusitis, atopic dermatitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and sleep disorders are so common that I rarely meet someone who does not have at least one of these conditions.

We must accept that maintaining flawless cleanliness does not necessitate the use of highly foamy agents and highly scented sanitizers.

The power of  essential oils

Plants, herbs, and trees can all help us by providing essential oils, which are highly concentrated extracts of the plants themselves. These purified essential oils are far more potent than the botanicals from which they were extracted. To use these oils properly for aromatherapy, personal care, or home remedies, you must first ensure that they have been carefully steam-distilled, cold-pressed, or obtained by tapping resin. Only then may you put them to use. It would be counterproductive to select an essential oil that was distilled using chemicals. You should not consume it under any circumstances; thus, it is critical to read the label.

Making the switch to pure essential oils is not only enjoyable, but the health benefits outweigh the effort of learning more about the options available and how to use them. Pure essential oils are available in health food stores and online.

How to use essential oils

To effectively meditate, you must first become aware of your breathing. If your mind wanders, returning your attention to your breathing will help you regain your focus. Diffuse a relaxing essential oil, such as frankincense or lavender, and reap the benefits. You could also rub two to three drops of essential oil between your palms and inhale the vapors that form.

Citrus oils like lemon essential oil and orange make you feel more energized, while peppermint relieves sinus pressure. Put a few drops of essential oil in a bowl of hot water, wrap a towel around your head and the bowl, and focus on your breathing.

Insomnia can cause stress, which can reduce one’s resistance to illness. Replace your electronic devices with a diffuser filled with your preferred essential oil.

Lavender and Peppermint are the most versatile essential oils

Lavender is particularly effective in treating a variety of skin conditions, including burns, when applied topically to the skin. Check once more to ensure that the oil you’re using is pure (I am not referring to organic, as this label still allows for a small percentage of chemicals).

Furthermore, peppermint may alleviate the discomfort associated with indigestion. As a topical application, a warm compress containing one to three drops of this solution can be placed over the stomach. A reputable manufacturer’s peppermint essential oil can be consumed by drinking it diluted in a liquid or by combining two to three drops of the oil with one teaspoon of maple syrup or coconut oil. Peppermint, helichrysum, and wintergreen oil each have their own unique pain-relieving properties. Furthermore, some intriguing research has been conducted on the ability of peppermint to inhibit calcium channels, which is an essential component in the process of pain signal transmission. Single oils or mixtures can be used undiluted or with a dilution agent.

Because essential oils contain a high concentration of active ingredients, they can be irritating to the skin. If the oil causes irritation, dilute it with a carrier oil like jojoba oil. It is critical to avoid getting oils in your eyes or ears at all costs.
